Distributor Drive Bush

Just dismantled my 1098 engine. When I withdrew the distributor drive shaft the bush at the inner end of the driveshaft came out with the driveshaft. I assume this should have remained in situ. To refit, should this bush be loctited into place so the shaft rotates in it?

There is no bush at the inner end of the distributer drive, The shaft just runs in the block.
What you consider to be a bush is the oil pressure relief valve.

Are you sure the items were together, because they originate from two different areas of the block.

Did the two items come out of a recently running engine? They look as if they have just been removed from a junk box especially the distributer drive shaft considering the amount of corrosion on it.
Whilst the cup of the oil pressure relief valve is a nice fit over bottom of the distributer drive shaft there is no way the cup will fit into the block unless someone has enlarged the hole.

Bush must have fallen out whilst removing distributor. Found it on the floor just after distributor removal.
