Synthetic petrol

Couldn’t help but get excited by the synthetic petrol being developed by F1 Engineer Paddy Lowe and his company Zero Petroleum. It was covered on the latest episode of Top Gear.

The fuel is created using CO2 captured from the atmosphere, which is then mixed with hydrogen. When burned it creates only the same CO2 previously captured.

Best of all it is claimed to be safe for use in ALL petrol engines of any age.

It’s currently in the experimental stage. The fuel is 95/98 octane synthetic motor “gasoline”, 100% fossil-free, bio-free, ethanol-free, lead-free.

“ Our drop-in fuel is a direct replacement for petrol. When in full production by 2027, the target sale price will be £3 per litre or less. We are creating a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels in the transition to net zero…and indefinitely beyond.”

Forget those electric conversions!

Sounds very promising but I hope they bring the price down a bit. £50,000 for the pleasure of ordering 20 litres from the first barrel :o
That includes VAT and delivery and supplied in a limited edition jerry can though :D
