I have taken the valve cover off to repaint it on a 803cc A series, was the original a cork gasket fitted from factory or a rubber looking thing that sits on the edge ? It had a very badly fitted cork one fitted as it has no location points like later cover, also i am trying to find some original looking rivets for the morris logo and even the engine number if anyone knows a supplier, thanks Rob.

The rocker cover gasket has always been cork. Some are better than others.
To secure use glue to stick the gasket to the rocker cover. Once the glue is dry lightly grease the gasket to head face. The grease helps to keep the cork gasket supple and make life easier when lifting the rocker cover.
As regards the engine number plate rivets - here you go:-
