Just to let you know that gasket paper is still available, as yesterday evening I went down to local place for a couple of heater valve gaskets and he said they dont bother to keep them any longer and he said just use some gasket paper and when I said where will I get some he said how much do you want its £1 a sheet so I had some.
I can`t remember the last time I saw any and its made by a company called Flexoid.

I think my local(ish) motor factor (motormania) still does it too.

I got my last lot from halfords - I had to ask a few times though as the toddlers didn't know what it was.

Good to hear it's still around Kevin. Better than relying on cornflake packets.
Now this is true, I didn't belive it at first - I used to buy gasket paper from The Jurex Rubber Co :o 8) on the Dock Road in Liverpool. Don't know if they're still around but it always promoted a snigger when their name was mentioned. I'm sure the owner used the name on purpose for obvious reasons.

still going strong despite inflation

Good to see they're still around. It would appear that Jurex have expanded then.

Hey, thanks Ray, maybe I'm just a youngster after all! I'd never heard of gasket paper until today! :D

I have used the stuff on numerous occasions, with the two-stroke moped. I didn't have any other choice, because the stopped making the gaskets before the end of production of Morris Minors....

You can buy packets of Flexoid Gasket Paper on eBay. It comes in packs of six A4 sheets for £3.50 plus £1.00 P&P (UK). Great for DIY gaskets, and definitely better than a cereal box!!

Aye, although cereal boxes are holding my engine's mating surfaces together all over the place. The back plate, timing chain cover... oh, I fear the places it went. Still, it's been okay *touch wood* for about 12k miles.... :-)

None of this supermarket rubbish :D

Fantastic, my local car parts shop, Wood's in Ilford Lane, east london. Got all the stuff. He's great, highly recommended. Always takes time for me and he used to supply my uncle with stuff for his mini back in the 60's...

Not sure where that was going but I got some gasket paper off him a few weeks back... thats it!
