I have been trying to find a crimping tool that makes a hexagonal crimp on brass bullets as in the original ones. I have found one from the USA on Ebay but it is over £100! I have one of the Ripault type ones (see photo below) which makes a reasonable but ugly 2-sided crimp but wondered if anyone has found a reasonably priced hexagonal crimper? I am surprised that they are not more widely available considering their use on most British cars and motorbikes over several decades.

The Ripault two sided crimp tool is the crimping tool most widely used.
I have had a genuine Ripault crimp plier (Pt No: SSCT.1) for many years and it gives a two sided crimp. I also have the special Ripaults pliers (not stamped with a Pt No:) for inserting the nipples into the connector.
Used with the genuine Ripault non solder nipples and making sure that the crimp is not overdone the connection is not only made good but looks good. Once inside the connector the crimps cannot be seen. Over crimping of the nipple can lead to nipple fracture and distortion of the nipple.
There are also non crimp Ripault connectors which was one of the main methods of making an electrical connection way back. The core wires was just bent back over the non solder nipple. The non crimp nipple and the crimp nipple use the same plastic covered metal core connector which can be obtained in one, two, or three block styles. Larger blocks are available on line.
Many production vehicles had the nipple soldered to the end of the cable.
I have to say that even the genuine Ripault two sided crimp pliers are now fetching good prices.
Could you please post the link to the 6 sided crimp pliers so that comparisons can be made.

I don’t think that would work on a bullet connector which only has a short length to crimp. It looks as if that tool would crimp the whole length of the bullet.

Only if you don’t/can’t crimp on one end of the bullet?
