Wing Mirrors

So here is a question for someone.
I have wing mirror on Audrey and one of them has worked loose. The rubber washer seems to have perished. This is the one that touches the wing itself.
My problem is I can't tighten the nut underneath because it won't turn and the wheel is in the way.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I. I might do.

Take the wheel off?
Then you'll have better access. I'd have thought that you'll need to undo the securing nut rather than tighten it? Then you can remove the mirror and fit a replacement rubber :)

Trouble is the nut is stuck on solid.Any suggestions as to how I get the nut off.
The plastic cover on the spring is stuck as well.

If penetrating oil will not allow the nut to be removed I would cut it off with a Dremel wheel and fit a new set of mirrors. 😁

I am advised people use inner tubes to cut into mirror gaskets .

Threads under the wing want wire brushing to remove all the muck. Then soak in Plus Gas and carefully work the nut back and forth. The quality mirrors had non-ferrous parts and usually the thread was covered by a plastic tube to protect it.
