The small ones at the front are the sidelights. Switch in the up position is off, one click down switches on sidelights (front and rear), next click down gives headilghts + rear lights. The dip switch is on the floor just above the clutch, you operate it with your left foot. Personally, I hate it being there, so usually replace it with a switch at dash level...

my switch is actually a pull type...the first pull is halfway then a bit of a twist and it pulls a second time

Which is the earlier type. One turn to the right is sidelights and tail, pull it towards you, and you get the main beam. Highbeam is also on the floor

My mistake - I've never seen one of them... Presumably it has the same functions as the later toggle type. Stupid question, but have you tried it, or is it not connected up?

Btw andrew, what rear sidelight do you mean? If I turn my switch, I get front sidelights and taillights, pulling the switch only adds the main beam

i must have something wrong...when i pull it once all the lights go on and when i twist it and pull it a 2nd time nothing seems to happen...my original problem was from the switch to the rear lights...the terminal that the wire was connected to is the one with the 3 red wires...1 to the key, 2 to the rear light (re-wired w/ new wire), 3 to the front presumably to the headlights.

Yeah, I was just trying to make it clear that the tail lights were part of both the side light circuit and the head lamp circuit.

Ramajon,
The pull type switch is wired as follows:
Connector A -- Two Brown/Blue wires connected. 1 to Control Box A1 terminal and 1 to Ignition Swtch.
S1 -- Red wires to Front Side Lights, Rear Tail Lights and Panel Lights.
S2 -- Blue wire to Dip Switch on floor and from there to Head Lights.
