Now, I know this might divide opinion, particularly as my traveller is a ‘68 and should have silver wheels, but personally I think this has made it even more quintessentially British 😁

Next job; woodwork. And I’ve only had this car a few weeks!! I guess this is what classic car ownership is like….

Thank you 😁. I didn’t like them to start but now I love them. Not bad for a tin of Hammerite and an afternoon’s work.

I've just painted my travellers wheels cream as one of the last jobs in the restoration, I much prefer it to silver :tu1: My car is Bermuda blue and the two colours go together well - just like yours :D

Thanks chaps and yes, Panky, I would think cream goes much better with blue than silver. Funny how we do these things isn't it, particularly if you're at the tail end of a restoration. They almost become one of the family, don't they :D

They do look nicer in cream than silver. very Sixties. :D
Silver wheels, like most options we choose, are down to personal preference and whether or not you are into concourse and / or feel the need for total originality.
I'd say most of the Minors out there are not completely as they left the factory.

No, that’s very true Mike. I think I’d draw the line at Ford seats, engine etc but the odd “minor” change has to be done sometimes.

Our 1968 (build date) Minor has Old English White wheels and not silver. Some "clever" people have told me that it is wrong, until I show them the photograph of it being collected from the dealer with OEW wheels as delivered from the factory. I do not know if they were ordered specially, or simply happened to be the colour that was available from stores at the time.

Wow, have you actually owned it all these years or was the photo just in the history when you bought it?

People can be incredibly pedantic about details sometimes, can't they.

My personal opinion is cream is best, by a country mile!

It looks great
the most unreliable part of a car is the nut holding the steering wheel!

Our Trafalgar Blue saloon should have a grey pinstripe according to the specifications list.
He has Old English White wheels and grille and I'm seriously considering a pinstripe in the same colour. I think it would look better than silver grey.

My 1958 saloon had colour coded wheels when I bought it, didn’t. Like the look so I painted them with cream Hammerite. Transformed the look of the car I love it.

I think yours looks fantastic!

Thank you and yes, I agree, it really does transform it doesn’t it. I used cream Hammerite s as well, though the paint is a bit soft and I think I’ll end up having to powder coat them.

Totally agree that cream wheels look better. It's was one of the first jobs I did when I bought my snowberry white 1970 Traveller way back in 1996. Silver wheels look so bland to me.

Cream for me too. I had my 1967 Trafalgar blue saloon's wheels stove enamelled cream and the grille to match. They look great with the blue bodywork. The pinstripe's cream too.
