My latest period accessory NOS purchase!
The 803cc & 948cc engines did not have a facility to install/attach a temp gauge. This kit was sold to overcome the problem of no factory facility to fit a temp gauge.
This kit allows for a temp gauge sensor housing to be fitted into the top hose.
Whilst not perfect in that the temp is measured after the thermostat and not in the head it is better than nothing! It is comparable to the classic Mini thermostat housing which has a facility to fit a temp gauge sensor and which is also after the thermostat.

Interesting.
So, every time you had to change your top hose, you simply unscrewed it and made a hole in the new hose to fit it into.
I am left wondering though, how well it would seal, especially after being taken apart a few times.
Do you collect things like this then? Or is it for use?

Both.
Especially anything quirky or unusual or not available on a regular basis for example - original classic Mini Cooper 'S' engine parts.
The sealing is carried out by the hose material not the adapter so there should be no leaks. If you were constantly taking it apart then that would be a different matter.
