I've been guilty of spending too much time on eBay and at an antiques centre near Lincoln recently.

First, a heating element attachment to go with a Reece Fish carb - attempting to fit the carb itself may get its own thread if I can find or adapt a manifold.



This has me thinking about how much it might disturb the airflow on the inside, and the efficacy and ease of making one that wraps around the outside. I gather this is likely coiled wire covered in thin copper rather than a solid plate?

Second, a relatively common Ferodo Brake Tester. I've managed 0.3g by hand, what was/is the requirement for an MOT?

It's amazing what you can find when you're bored. Having just moved house I thought a couple of diecast models would look nice in the lounge and having bought them I found 2 large boxes of them in my garage which I'm clearing

It's likely that your computer automatically rotates the image and this site doesn't.

What is that measuring? Gs as well?

No I have rotated the image and stored in portrait and landscape but the forum only displays it in landscape .
It's an old voltmeter in a wooden case, which hinges open so you can see the workings

Have you tried the Tapley meter in your car, they were the standard brake test tool before brake roller testing, I've used them on trucks many years ago.

A lot of mot garages still have tapley meters for those 'awkward' mots. Very handy if they only have 2 brake rollers.

I once had a vw golf 4motion years ago and this has a haldex clutch, so when one set of wheels reaches a certain level of slip, 4wd kicks in. This made it dry difficult for brake test on the rollers at mot time, so they would road test it with a tapley meter as an alternative.
