Where is it located, roughly what size is it? I've seen the same fitting on a lawnmower but don't immediately recognise it from a Minor.

Looks like a front Armstrong lever arm damper, is it leaking? Is that why you want to service it?

It’s a front shock absorber and filled with oil, some folk use a thicker 40sae oil for a firmer ride. Undo screw with spanner.

There is no point in filling the damper which it is with new oil if the damper has not been drained and the oil changed for 50 plus years.
The damper needs to be drained and refilled with the required oil to get the best out of the damper. Use the search facility for details on how to drain and refill the front dampers.

When I did mine I ended up with one of the seals weeping a bit - not sure why. It was fine before, must look at it again.

Make sure you leave an air gap when you refill. Overfilling may cause leakage.

The 50 year old oil that comes out is really stinky in my experience. Don't let it get on you.
