I have a 1964 morris traveller which will not start.
The fuel is being pumped through,
There is a spark at the plug.

If I spray easy start into the carb the engine will fire up for a few times.

Any suggestions as to why the engine will not continue to run?

Not been standing for a long time has it? Modern petrol dies quicker than good old, er, old petrol.

Hi,
Have you owned the car long or is it a new purchase?
Have you had it running?
Was it 'lumpy'?
It might be your timing is out, it may be it needs a new head gasket....
More info please.
Then someone on here will have an answer for you.
Best wishes,
Mike.

Does the piston slide freely in the carb? Do you use the choke? As above, a bit more information please and we'll do our best to help. You could check the float chamber and make sure that the is no muck blocking the inlet to the jet. The fact that it sort of runs on easy start suggests that it might be fuel related.

Also check the compression on all four cylinders. Using a gauge is ideal, but fitting one plug at a time and using the starting handle will give a fair idea of what it's like. How experienced are you with messing around with engines?
