Switch i.d. required.

Calling the experts.....what is this electrical gizmo? A new one on me. It is in my 1970 ex-PO telephones van.

It looks to me like a hazard light switch which gas the lamp in it for the tell tale missing as well as the red pull knob to operate it.

Oh! yes, I do recall seeing something similar in the past.

I shall take a look and see to what and where the cables connect.

I expect the missing knob would take some finding. Keep your eyes peeled for me chaps.

Would this have been a Post Office fitment?

Definitely hazard light switch, bulb should have a lug oin each side to fit in those slots plus a ventral contact on the base, and then a red screw on knob. Standard accessory available from loads of places. IF it's working correctly, then you can just pull it out with fingers or pliers and see whether all four indicators work. It should be supplied via a fuse, usually inline. These units are still available with some cheaper "copy" imports around, which might provide a source for a knob.
