How do I get the crankshaft pulley bolt loose

It has been stuck for 50 years I think

Maybe a silly question but you have to turn it anti clockwise I think

But is completely stuck

any tips????

If it hasn't moved for 50 years'ish then I would apply some heat treatment.
If you have a heat gun you can get close enough with , then great. No heat gun , you could try boiling water out of the kettle.
Preparation first , boiling water splashing around is asking for trouble if you're not careful. A few layers of newspaper laid underneath the front of the engine. Containment and a precise application can be achieved
by using a long wooden thin batten. Rest it on top of the bolt and dribble the boiling water on to it. Warning it may need more than one application. An application of Plus gas or other releasing fluid might help things along. When putting the socket on , remember it will HOT.
If you have / can borrow a breaker bar, to exert more force then so much the better. When refitting it should be
Torque 70 lb/ft tight. Yes , anti clockwise to loosen.
I'm sure others will have their own little tips to offer.

Breaker bar on the nut and click the starter ;)

But brace the bar first, you don't want it flying round when you touch the starter

Make sure that you have disengaged any locking tabs. Soak with plus gas. Heat as above. Air-impact wrench and socket if available. If not, then good quality bar and socket and a heavy clump hammer, or the bar and starter trick. Yes, it does undo anti-clockwise.

I have a shortened 3/4" Whitworth ring spanner, usually a few "taps" with a lump hammer usually frees it, anti clockwise as already mentioned.

I've got a ring spanner which is designed to be hit with a hammer, sometimes known as a flogging spanner, with a lump hammer it's always worked for me.

If you are near Chelmsford you are welcome to borrow it.

I am near Sheffield, and you are more than welcome to borrow mine either.

I've always used an impact wrench on all vehicles worked on, never not worked!

The ideal tool is a rattle/impact air gun (used for removing and refitting road wheels) with a deep six sided impact socket.
I have the correct Churchill/BMC flogging spanner which does not require the engine to be locked against rotation. The hammer shock on the end of the flogging spanner is enough to slacken the bolt.

I even tried it by starting the engine very shortly but it is still stuck, luckily the sound of the engine was something else so i don t need the unlock the bolt anymore
