Zinc primer???

weld thru primer (sold in aerosol cans from Frost etc).

I'm not sure though how good an idea painting an exhaust is. Frost also do some high temperature paints- might be worth a look.

i have painted exhausts before. My local motorfacrots sell a spray can that says "exhaust paint" on the side comes in silver, black or red. If i ever escape from work (Have been here since 7am yesterday!) I'll have a look and post the details.

I have used 'Stovax' with great sucess. Goes on well and stays on. You get it from any woodburning stove centre, it is a very high temperature paint in an aerosol.

Now THATS an excellent piece of lateral thinking.... I bet its cheaper than the Auto equivalents too!

Yes... barbecue paint in matt black or silver is what you need... seen some on Kit cars, looks very good :)

I slap on zinc primer - it seems to last ok but discolours - whether it helps exhaust life is very debateable. My exhaust is stainless anyway ! But it still looks rusty - so I paint it. Sad really.
