Hi,
Series 2 Split Screen 1956 4 Door.
Having trouble fitting the sill finishers. Can't figure out how to fit them and all the bolts required, I think there must be some tips on here at least I hope so. Unfortunately I removed them years ago and now car is nearly finished I seem unable to get the sill finishers on, too many bolts and no room. Any help would be very welcome pleaes.

I don't know if it's different between the series II and 1000, but on my four door 1000 the kick plates just slot into place on the lip pictured, the draught excluder may need peeling back a bit to allow them to drop into place properly:



The sill finishers just hang in mid-air, if you have any of those spring loaded rubber clamps (or small vise-grips with cloth to stop them damaging the metal) you can hold them in place so that you don't have to hold them up while putting in the bolts.

As to the nuts/bolts/washers the way mine were set up by the restorer my car was done at, it went:

Bolt>Washer>Through Sill Finisher > Through Kick Plate > Spring Washer > Nut.

ESM don't mention the spring washer, I think the idea was partly to secure them, and also to let grinding them off easier without risking damage to the car.

As I said, not sure if there were any changes between SII and 1000, but hopefully that helps.
