Hi,
Ignoring the fact they're not cheap for a moment, what do people think of these?

You’ve got to be a tired soul to need the assistance of a battery ! :o

Probably has a purpose if you're a service engineer who spends their entire working day greasing machinery.
Faster for the job and no repetitive strain injury in one hand.
A lot of automotive stuff these days doesn't have much in the way of grease points, other than spraying a squirt of white grease on hinges.

I was wondering more about increased pressure and getting the grease where it needs to go, into the trunnions / track rod ends.
I don't have a compressor for an air fed gun, so wondered about this.
At present I have a 'pistol grip' manual one, similar to this one:

https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=htt ... AdAAAAABAD
The amount of times I have had to 'bleed' it to restore pressure.....
Sometimes it works fine, other times it pi**es me right off......
Best wishes,
Mike.

If your grease nipples and trunnions etc are in good condition you do not need high pressure to get the grease were it is needed.
Unless doing repetitive greasing personally I would not spend the money.
My Wanner hand grease gun produces enough pressure to get the grease where it is needed.

I find by attaching this G-coupler to my gun it leaves both hands free to operate the gun. It clamps onto the grease nipple. Maybe I’ve just been lucky, but I’ve not had any issues with the grease not getting through.

The Wanner grease gun has a similar end fitting. The harder you pump the tighter the end fitting grips the nipple.

The inset pic on that link reminds me of my series III Landrover.

I'll try a 'G' coupler first then.
I have posted the links to two below, one is much cheaper than the other but is the dearer one better quality or are they all the same?
I'd rather buy a good one once......
Many thanks,
Mike.

The 'G' couplers in the links above have different threads so care must be taken to ensure that you have the right coupler.
The upper link coupler has a 1/8" NPT thread.
The lower link has a M10 x 1.0 metric thread.

Noted, thanks Phil.
I'll have to see what my grease gun is.
Best wishes,
Mike.

I have an old Wanner grease gun, which works very well. However, since replacing the prop shaft UJs a couple of years ago, the very short length of the grease nipples on the new UJs mean that the head of my grease gun will not fit through the gaps to lock on to the nipples at either end of the prop shaft.

One solution is to replace the short grease nipples with long ones, but rather than go through the whole process of removing the prop shaft, does anyone know of a very narrow headed grease gun end that can either be attached to my existing Wanner grease gun or some other method of reaching these prop haft UJ nipples?

Many thanks in advance!

Pete

Are you sure you have to remove the propshaft to replace the nipples?

No you definitely don’t, the greasers just screw in and out.

I was going to say, put it up on axle stands, then you can rotate the prop and change them in situ.
Longer grease nipples are the way forward, David Manners has some in stock.
ESM is out and Charles Ware has one but you need two (links below).
Best wishes,
Mike.

Here’s a link to the one I bought. It was £25 last year, so it’s down in price a bit. Mine was M10. Available in different sizes. Good luck, hope you find the coupler useful.

A big thanks to Les, JowettJavelin and Mike about this - I had thought that if my grease gun won't reach the short grease nipple, then my socket set wouldn't squeeze in the gap either - but it does! I have ordered a couple of long grease nipples from David Manners.

Thanks again all, this forum is such a great source of information!

1/8th NPT proved to be the correct thread for my grease gun. I enquired with Sealey, as to what was the correct thread for their cordless gun and they answered that theirs is (also) 1/8th NPT.
Anyway, what a revalation, the grease is now being delivered (pushed through) into the areas that I want it to be, with no surplus 'splurge' around the nipples.
I am definitely a 'G' coupler convert and will recommend it to anyone! :D

No more messy standard nozzles for me!
I now just need to find where I have put my flexi hose, as I'm still using the fixed metal pipe attachment at present, mainly because this allowed me the firmest connection onto the grease nipples, prior to my getting a coupler.
Best wishes,
Mike.

Be careful when greasing the prop-shaft joints. Excess grease/pressure can displace the joint seals allowing crud into the needle bearings.

displace the joint seals
Ah, I take it a sign of this is when grease pumps out the edges of the universal joints....
I have this on Sallys prop at present and have experienced it on other cars I have owned, however I've not noticed any issues arrising when using the cars after, so far.....
I will keep an eye on things.
Best wishes,
Mike.
