Hi moriseers had the brake master cylinder renewed with brake pipes as well.As driving home noticed when fully depressing the brake it would stay down for a couple of seconds before returning to its resting position. Is this an obvious issue

you need to check that the return spring on the pedal has been refitted correctly, it's under the small cover plate that covers the master cylinder.

As above, or possibly wear in the pedal pivot assembly, might show up more when the clutch pedal is down.
Did you find out any more info on your clutch issue, price wise?

It's always good to resolve things yourself, but "had the brake master cylinder renewed..." suggests that it was done professionally, in which case you should take it back to the firm that did the work and get them to rectify it as it is clearly not right. This presumes that it was OK before you had the cylinder replaced.
