Fitting a Traveller front headlining

Hi,
I have just bought a front headlining and wire for Elsie May, as at present she has red carpet stuck up to the cab roof (and you know I'm going to have fun removing that....... 
).
The back still has it, so what happened up front I don't know......
While I wait for it to arrive I just wondered if there are any tips for the fitment of this, anything that makes life easier?

I would say two pairs if hands including someone that has done the job before.Appears to be quite a job if your not sure.Get lots of advise and help before starting.Dont want to mess it up and waste money best wishes as I need all my headlining done.Wish there was a video.

Have you got the hoops (List rods) and the ply with clips for the front fixing?

Ah, I think not, thanks for the prompt Taupe, I would doubtless have stripped it all out and then noticed I was missing something......
The carpet appears to be glued directly to the cab roof.
So presumably the originals were discarded.....
Why someone would do this is beyond me. 
I don't see the hoops listed with either ESM or Charles Ware, does this mean I will have quite a task finding some?
Or does someone know a source?

I think you'll have trouble finding the front hoops, but I have seen replacement ply inserts and clips on sale somewhere. If you can't find the ply mine's still out so I could make a tracing if that would help.

No fitting tips I'm afraid but it would be a good idea to stick a couple of sound deadening pads to the roof before you fit the lining. Every little bit helps to dampen noise and drumming.

There is only one metal hoop in the front headlining. I wouldn't expect it to be hard to obtain. Once you have all the parts, it isn't a particularly difficult job to do. My new headlining came with fitting instructions which were straightforward enough to follow. Just take your time and all should be fine
. Remember to feed the wires up the front pillar for the interior light along with the headlining cable.

Funnily enough I have been toying with leaving the (what must be rubber backed) carpet in place, for this very reason....
That and the fact that removing it and the glue holding it will probably leave me needing to respray the interior of the cab roof!
