OK guys, I have replaced the front wheel cylinders and am about to do the rears. I can see the outer (handbrake) piston comes out easily but is it worth dismantling further by removing the cylinder handbrake lever to then lube the inner piston with red rubber grease?

I do it with mine as a matter of course, but I can report a pattern part cylinder fitted with a complete set began weeping after about two years with regular use, only standing idle for 2 or 3 months at a time during winter. Put it this way, it won't do any harm but I think wetting the seals with brake fluid and flushing the system with clean fluid every few years, as usual, is just as good. A little Green Girling grease on the sliding backplate will be beneficial.

Thank you. Yes, some grease on the cylinder aperture in the backplate is a good idea. I am using genuine cylinders this time.
