Rear trav suspension

Im going to be welding up new hangers for the rear springs (have new rear sup kit from ESM), but Im pondering if I should switch out the rear dampers for modern oil/gas units as part of the same job. Ive no idea yet if the existing rotary dampers are shot, but my guess would be yes, as the fronts were...

Long question short, replace all as one step, or replace just springs etc first, and dampers later...

Thoughts?

Old dampers ... old oil ... probably not been changed ... ever :-? Empty out whatever may be left in the original dampers and refill with a straight 30 weight oil, 40 weight also works and will firm things up even more, the difference is night and day. :D While i'm here, check the mounting bolts for the front shocks, they come loose after 50+ years.
