Gearbox tunnel cover rubbers?

Does the Gearbox tunnel cover normally have rubber strips between it and the floor (there are 4 in total).
Or is this something a previous owner has added, maybe to reduce noise entering the car?

Ex factory the gearbox cover was seated on mastic.
The seal fitted is non original. See revision below.

Thanks. What sort of mastic would you use to reseat the cover? I guess something like Sikoflex would be too adhesive?

Well I’m under the impression that the rubber strips are standard fitments, in fact the original floor sections are recessed for them. If the floors have been replaced, this recess has been omitted, then the rubbers can’t be used, so another method of sealing is used. I’ve got the 4 original strips in the shed.

Whilst I have never come across any seal other than the ex factory Prestik Pt No: ADE1598 seal with dimensions 1" x 1/16" (mastic type/cut as required). Looking at the BMC parts list you are right in that the early vehicles had rubber seals which were discontinued for example - commercial vehicles at Com No: 37549 after which the Prestik seal was adapted.
Those rubber seals were Pt Nos:
AAA3568.
ADA2622.
AAA3569.
AAA3570.
My 1958 (manufactured 1957), 948cc Minor had the Prestik seal fitted.
The seals (except Seal Pt No: ADA2622) are shown in the MOSS Europe parts list but are Not Currently Available (NCA)

Is it not a difference between the cars and commercials?

In my limited experience I thought this was a difference between vans and cars. Vans have a recess in the floor panel to accommodate the rubber strip. The car floors do not have this so I assume they were originally mastik
