Can you please advise.noticed the rear door lock turns with the key but not locking.is there an easy cure

Can you clarify?

Normal operation is that you insert the key and rotate it 180 degrees, then remove it. With the lock left one way, the handle will move, with the lock left the other way, the handle will be locked. If you leave the key in the lock with the locl in the unlocked position, then you can move the handle and the key will turn with it.

If you try the lock in both positions and the key removed, and the handle still moves freely, then you will need either a new lock barrel and/or a new handle. It will be necessary to remove the barrel to see whether iy is the barrel. handle, or both that is/are worn/damaged.

Could you advise if I remove the two bolts holding the rear door handle on will it come off totally so I could put a new one straight in please

On the outside of the door, remove the two screws holding the base to the wood. On the inside, there is a single screw with a washer or two in the centre of the shaft, you also need to remove that. You do not need to remove any of the rods or linkage. The lock/handle "should" then be free to remove. However, the shaft often rusts to the plate and may require drifting out, or in extreme, drilling.

Soak the lock shaft thoroughly with penetrating oil such as Plus Gas and leave to soak for a day or two, topping up every so often. Apply a suitablt sized drift to the shaft (inside side) and tap with a hammer to push the handle assembly out. NB fully support the door around the lock assembly or you may break the wood. If reasorting to drilling then take care to not damage the square hole into which the handle shaft fits. Refitting is much simpler. just apply some grease to make future servicing easier. Good luck.
