Hi everyone
Just out of interest can a 1098 standard minor gearbox be converted to straight cut gears? Like a 1275 midget can be. I’ve read somewhere about it can be done if it has b type gears, how do I identify this? And is it a straight forward swap over job that doesn’t require gearbox machining. My gearbox is from a 67 1098 ribbed box
Thanks
Andy

The answer is yes.
You need 1098cc gearbox Pt No: 38G374. You can then fit the straight cut gear set C-AJJ 3319.
There is no mention of having to machine the gearbox to enable fitment in any of the publications I have.

Brilliant thanks for the quick reply, would I find that on the gearbox casing to identify it?

If it’s the right gearbox I have it runs smooth so would like todo a minimum rebuild, would it be a full strip down job ?

If you do not already have the straight cut gears in the gearbox it does mean a full strip and rebuild to fit the S/C - C/R gear set.
I had a 1275cc Midget S/C C/R gear set in the 1275cc Midget gearbox previously fitted to my Minor. The gearbox was not that good and was eventually changed to a Quaife S/C C/R clubman gearbox which is based on the Ford 2000E gearbox. The Quaife gearbox is perfect.
