Why are posts from yesteryear suddenly appearing here ?

What posts from where?
I only ever use the 'New Posts' selector.
I've seen a couple of old resurrected posts in the past few days, but that's been because 'newer' members of the forums have chosen to comment on them.

Same here,new owners seeking advice and ressurecting older posts for comments...which is understandable.
