1960 Turquoise Traveller Restoration

I have just bought my 1st Morris Minor, a 1960 Traveller. It's been off the road for 13 years and needs a complete restoration. It was restored by the previous owner some years ago but the weather has taken its toll and the sills are now rotten, as it the entire wooden frame.

Would anyone know if the dashboard is the right colour, it is grey when the car is turquoise? The engine bay is also grey/black. I'm not sure if turquoise is its original colour. Is there a paint code anywhere or any way of finding out its original specification?

Turquoise was not a colour option on that model so the grey of the dashboard is likely to be the original colour. It isn't the clearest photo but my guess is that the colour is Frilford Grey, the code for which is GR 5. There is no code visible on these cars unfortunately but you can apply to the Motor Museum at Gaydon for a copy of the build records and they can usually tell you the original colour as well as other interesting information of the car specification.
Good luck with it. Travellers of that age have survived in fairly small numbers and are not seen so often now.
The seats in your car are from a later model and were probably a maroon colour originally - and leather covered if a deluxe model.

Is that an additional ‘ lever / stick ‘ between the gear stick and hand brake ?

I'm no expert but that grey could even be Dove grey.

But it looks to the original colour whichever hue it is.

Dove Grey is much lighter and is a sort of mushroom/beige colour. It was not available in 1960 and was not offered on Travellers at any time. Several Minor Saloon colours were not offered on the Traveller which for some reason had to make do with a more limited colour range.

I have uploaded a clearer picture of the dash and also a picture of a some paint that has peeled off revealing some grey paint underneath. Many Minors, I think you might be right that Frilford grey may be the original colour. I hadn't realised turquoise wasn't an option on this car. Thanks for the information on the obtaining the information from the Motor Museum at Gaydon, I will do that.

I've also noticed the car used to have trafficators and the holes have been filled in and sprayed over. They would be nice to reinstate at some point.

On the colour, I have to agree with 'ManyMinors' that the Frilford Grey colour looks to be the most likely.

Introduced Jan 1959 at chassis number 692882

Discontinued July 1960 at chassis number 847831

Thanks Ian46, my Traveller was registered April 60 and the chassis number is between the range you have listed, so that does make it even more likely it was Frilford Grey originally.

This could be an interesting car due to the fact that are the disability controls original?

The disability controls were added by the previous owner and can just be removed. The standard pedals are still fitted and it could still be driven normally when it was working.
