Off rear hub seal leaking.

Hi all, I have found the off rear hub seal is leaking on my traveller. It's dripping on to the inner part of the tyre.

I know I will need to remove wheel, brake drum and half shaft. However as my garage isn't very wide I plan to remove the half shaft outside the garage where there is more room to remove the shaft, and then refit drum and wheel and push it back inside the garage to do the rest of the work.
If I do draw the shaft out and then push the car back in the garage, will I cause any damage to the differential?
Also, is there a torque figure when tightening up the hub nut?
Any other tips or comments gratefully received.
Thanks. Jonnie.👍

When you temporarily fit the drum - fit washers to the same thickness as the flange of the half-shaft between hub and brake drum. That will ensure that the wheel studs do not get damaged.
You will not damage the diff pushing the car in and out of the garage.
There is no torque setting for the rear axle hub nut it just has to be done up tight but not gorilla tight.
Remember that later L/H or N/S hub nuts have a L/H thread.
