Hi all,

I have been having a bit of a garage clearout and came across some lovely finned brake drums.

Nothing stamped on the outside. The ID is 9", depth 2" (maybe 2 1/16"). PCD 4.5".

I wonder what they're for? Could I redrill them to 4" PCD for use with Wolseley or Riley backplates?

Ah nice - the front shape looks exactly like - https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/alfin-sty ... 54673.html

Now to weigh up modifications vs sale!

The Wolseley rear brakes are 8" dia so that counts out their use with Wolseley rear brakes.
The Riley 1.5 front brakes whilst 9" dia are much wider than the MGB rears so that counts out use their with Riley front brakes.
The Riley 1.5 rear brakes are 8" dia with a shoe width of 1.75" so that counts out their use with Riley rear brakes.

If they are ALFIN & for a MGB are they are £196.80 each so if you decide to sell you should get a good price. :D
Your link is for a TR rear brake drum and they are £163.20 each

Possibly Datsun 240Z rear drum. some years ago I got a U/S one from a wrecker to experiment with . The wrecker said he mainly sold them to Triumph owners. I redrilled the stud holes and enlarged the centre hole but in the end it wasn't quite deep enoughfor the Morris / Wolseley brakes and the inner edge of the shoes overlapped the inner edge of the drum. From memory it was identical to the above photos. I still have it in store but can't get to it to check because of the plague......
