Rear axle U bolt size

Could anyone tell me the diameter of the axle U bolt? I haven't got access to my car st the moment so cant check. Thanks
The diameter of the 'U' bolts is 3/8"
The original threads were BSF but latterly are more likley to be UNF.
A single self locking nylock nut will suffice. There is no need for two plain nuts with the lower nut acting as a locking nut.
