Fiat engine/gearbox

I have recently aquired a Pick up with a Fiat 2 ltr engine/5 Speed gearbox and 13 in wheels.

Goes well! but I have a couple of questions.
1. The engine get very hot. No gauge, so I do not know how hot. I do not think the head gasket is a fault as it does not boil, there is no water in the oil, no water leaks etc. There is a Marina radiator fitted with electric fan. Seperately switched, but I tend to have this running all the time.

Is it normal for this set up? Does anyone else experience the same ?

2. With the 5 sped gearbox and 13 in wheels, the standard speedo wildly over reads. Any suggestions, besides getting it calibrated?
