Brake pedal against underside cover plate

I'm doing a RHD-LHD conversion. When the brake pedal is released it hits (by the return spring) the underside of the master cylinder cover. I suppose that is not correct, but how can I avoid it?

Can you please post a photo of the pedal/cover interface/where it is hitting.

Nearly the full length of the pedal's arm.

Could anyone tell me what stops the brake pedal in its upwards travel ? When released, where does it rest against.

Thanks Alan! That is the answer I was looking for. I know it looked a silly topic. But the car was a wreck and I'm now finishing it. I've never driven it. Took the pedals out 18 months ago and now have put them in LHD instead of RHD. The pedal hitting the plate looked unusual and I wanted to be sure! Looking forward of owning it 45 years as well!
