I thought I'd read this one recently, it seems like a fairly troublesome one - going out to check mine now!

(Later) - checked mine just now, release rod held in place with a rusty bent nail, pivot pin almost worn through and the hole it's in worn oval...another job to do

used a brazing rod, with end bent over, put car over pit and inserted rod through second opening and cliped into latch took all of 5 mins, but you need plenty of light

i used, a hammer, and a chisel which was thin but strong, look through the grill until you see the lever arm "itll be to the far left by the radiator at the top!" trust ull be able to reach it, locate the chisel on the catch until u can push it no more, hold it ther and with the hammer, tap the chisel, soft then hard and the bonnet will "bump" open u no just open, i cudnt phrase the sound it makes! but i suggest to you as what im doing because i have suffered from this problem A L O T take off the rod (itll already been off) make a thread on it and screw on a bolt or sumthing like a cable tie, or simething thisllk stop your problem from reocuring, but the thread option is better because it looks neat! hope this helps, charly
