Hi. Just measured the travel at the clutch pedal as it feels like it has too much and its 3.5". I guessing that is way off ?

Ok - so slight newbie error  - The transmission cover is off at the moment and apparently the pedal sits lower, held down by the cover panel when its on. Estimating about 1" of travel so guess that not too far off.

Assuming you are talking about your son's 1970 car, with 1098cc engine and gearbox, the free pedal movement should be between 1 3/8 inch and 1 1/2 inch. For the 948cc and 803cc models (and, I think, the sidevalve) it is 3/4 inch.
