Transmission cover sealant
Hi Everyone - what do you use as the gooo between the transmission cover and the main body. I want to use something as there was originally - presumably to stop water coming in but I don't want to glue it together permanently.

Super fast response !
That's an interesting idea - hadn't considered a 'tape' assumed a cartridge based semi liquid thing !

Like you say, you don't want it permanently sealed up and hopefully this might 'go again' a couple of times. If not it can be peeled off and replaced.
Best wishes,
Mike.

I did mine with that tape a while ago, and have just had the cover off again to swap my engine/gearbox.
The cover came off very easily and the tape remained in place on the cover ready to be re-used.
So overall I would say it is perfect for this application.

Thanks for the replies - I've ordered some tape. My son said - yeah I suppose it forms a gasket...

Hi on my last project I used glazing tape it's about1/8 inch thick and about 3/4 wide sourced from any glass merchant
