Weird coil issue

Evening all!

I thought I'd buy a coil to have as a spare in case the current one goes pop at some point. All run well on current coil with an electronic distributor.

However, when attaching the new (made in Brazil) Bosch blue coil, the car won't start. Put the old one back on and bingo, it starts on the key.

Looking at dizzy doctor website it seems to suggest a 'sports' coil is required, so I thought the Bosch would actually be a better match. Readings of the coil below. Current coil is quite a bit higher at around 6 across +/- and 10k from top to +be.

I'm thinking maybe the old coil has +/- the wrong way round on the body, so I'm connecting the new one up the wrong way? (I believe electronic dizzys only work the right way round), but don't want to blow it by trying. Any thoughts or way to check what's going on?

I've checked the accuspark instruction diagram and all is wired up ok, so almost as though the resistances aren't right for the dizzy!?

My thoughts are all ‘contact the supplier’.

Haha, what's strange is I tried another coil with the same resistances and if didn't work too. I bought the Bosch as thought the other high performance one was a dud. Will probably contact accuspark to see what they think!
