I know there are a few places that do them, but have any of you had a good quality authentic reproduction tax disc made for your car?

I tried one from eBay a few years ago, which was allegedly fade resistant, and if faded away to almost nothing in a matter of weeks.

I have had a few lots from this guy, and they are excellent.

I got a set from this place in Dec 2017. Fully personalised, you get a sheet of 6.
Basil is garaged, so not out in the daylight much, but the first one still looks great.
I must find where I put the envelope containing the other 5.....

The only down side is they are not perforated ......

Well I found the envelope with the other 5 in it.
They're printed on quite thick paper, or you might even say thin card.
I'd guess at 120g paper rather than the common 80g that is standard printer paper.
They may not be as perfect a replica as the guy quoting £26 +p&p, but at £5 for 6, and the option to personalise it a lot, such as Serial number, Office Stamp location and actual date of stamp, I felt they were exceptional value.
I got mine for a 1 year tax, date stamped with my own Date of Birth as the issuing date

Being critical, I'd say the print may be a little dark, but then I've not seen an original 1950s disc to compare. Looks fine in the car.

I note that the site suggested by Phil says that all discs issued before the early 60s were handwritten, and my 1957 disc is typed, but I guess that's one for the purists.

As for discs, I think I’ll give the ones Phil recommended a try first. Nothing to lose since the guy offers free replacements if they fade and they’re a good price. Only downside is they’re not perforated. There are always the £26 ones as a fall back.

Here’s an image of one I received (with VRM photoshopped out) from poplargreg. Really pleased with how it looks. The slight inaccuracy with the red letter U in JUN was caused by me in photoshop.

It actually looks spot on. Will see how the ink lasts over time. But with two spares included and free replacement if they fade it seems like a really good service.
