I’ll be servicing our traveller this week and wondered what the thoughts are on using a carb and air intake spray cleaner whilst leaving the carb on the car - taking the air filter off and spraying it in the intake whilst the car is running. I’ve seen plenty of YouTube videos of people doing this, but never on an SU carburettor.

Is it good way to give a quick clean or simply shifting any build up further into the engine?

To be absolutely honest a complete waste of time and money on a SU carb as there is nothing really to clean.
The only part of an SU that needs the occasional clean is the dash pot/piston and that needs to be removed to clean properly.

Thanks for the info. I’ve just stripped and cleaned up a 4-stroke carburettor with the spray cleaner, which had gotten me thinking of trying it on the SU - I’ll save my time
