I’m fitting new headlight rims to Molly, and need some advice. There are two lugs at the top and bottom of the unit to help secure the rim, with one screw at the bottom. Once I have engaged the rim over two of the lugs, how do I force it over the other two. I’m nervous about levering it over in case I distort the rim.

Well assuming they are the same as the ones on Basil, it's a case of get the top on and then just a gentle press on the bottom and they just clip over with a 'click', then fit the locking screw.
Getting off, it's a case of a small screwdriver under the bottom and a slight lever action.
The difference in the size of the 2 components is very slight, just enough to allow them to clip together.

Getting the old rims off was easy enough, but the lugs are too high to easily clip the new rim on. I might need to cut the two bottom lugs down a little. Hopefully it will be ok, as the top two lugs will hold the rim firmly and the screw will hold the bottom in place.

Try fitting the rim over the two bottom lugs first and then popping the top ones on. They can be a bit of a fiddle - though they shouldn't be!
Maybe the lugs can be 'tweaked' a bit, rather than cut down?

Interesting! I might have to tweak my lugs as my rims were a real pig to get on.
Aftermarket parts, new bowl and chrome rims but I guess slight dimensional differences, ended up leaving the rubber gasket out and using a narrow scraper to get the chrome rims on!

Yes, I had to leave the rubber gasket off one side to fit the rim!
The other side it all fitted fine....
Go figure??

This is where someone, so it might as well be me, says... 'There's supposed to be a Rubber Gasket?'

but rather unhelpfully doesn't illustrate on the exploded diagram...?

ESM have what looks like the same item, but call it LMP190

Yes, that looks like it. I doubt its absolutely necessary and I suspect many cars are without them.........

I must admit Basil's chrome rings are a pretty good fit without.
