I had cause to remove the steering wheel today and on replacement I can’t get the horn push to stay in position
The spring pushes it out around the 6 o’clock position
I think I’ve broken it somehow but I can’t see anything obvious

I can't see anything wrong particularly. The spring clips need to be fitted with the barb part to the outside in order to grip of course.
When fitting it, you need to offer it at an angle so that the piece of spring/contact you mention engages correctly first and that both of the clips are correctly lined up with their cut-outs. Then you have to be brave enough to give it a light bash with your hand to help it into position, making sure that it is fully pushed home.

Thanks ManyMinors
Knowing there was nothing missing helped
I adjusted the the clips to have a little more bard and bobs your uncle
