So it’s stop working this morning
Even tapping it isn’t doing the trick
Power is there and I have removed the cap and it’s trying but the points are buggered I think
I’ve removed the nut holding the earth side on and was hoping the points assembly would come out but it held in some how
It lifts from one side but I can’t see what’s holding the side closest to me
There is a small hinge pin that I may be able to pull out that would release it I think
The pump is still on the car btw
Any thoughts

There was a small screw which when undone released the points
The assembly can be hinged back 90degrees to give good access
I think I need to get some new points..,

My pump looked a bit ropey and the cap was cracked and now it’s broken altogether
So I’m thinking replacing it
I did get it going but the engine is running roughly so I think it’s intermittent
There appears to be 2 types , one is electronic (aua66e)
There’s £30 difference in price
Is it worth it and what’s the difference?
I can’t see any part numbers on mine

The standard SU fuel pump with points will last a very long time if looked after.

Electronics - more to go wrong that cannot be home cured.

The one shown in your listing above is negative earth only - is your car negative earth?

AUA66 is the non electronic type and is of dual polarity.

The club got back to me with a price of £60 recon
Apart from points I cant see what there is to recondition
I will have a think

The valves, the diaphragm, the fibre washers etc all need tender loving care for the pump to work correctly and efficiently.
Personally I would go for the club spares fuel pump - also I would begrudge paying more than necessary to get the car back running.

Admittedly a ‘misquote’ but I would not be replacing the whole pump for a broken cap. There is likely a file on ‘thingiverse’ to 3D print a replacement cap. Many scrap pumps have a serviceable cap and not many pumps are total scrap!

Have a look at https://www.sufuelpump.com/products/aub-6098-diaphragm. You may have to phone and ask at places like Burlem but they are available.

I've just rebuilt a pump and it makes a tick that would impress the clock in Big Ben. Sounds like a gremlin smacking the bonnet with a mallet. All the others have a nice gently clack that you can't hear at speed 9until you run out of fuel). Has anyone else had this?
