I've just noticed my carpet and soundproofing on the passenger side floor is wet. As the Old lady ( 63 on an A ) is in Exellent condititon structurally i was wondering where the water was coming from. Then the breakthrough, after a short journey i felt the offending wet area to find it was warm to the touch. Also there is a destinctive "Rubber" smell when she gets up to temp.
Is there a heater matrix in these units or is it more likley to be perished hoses and are these units easy to remove, is there any tricky bits i should look out for.
Any help would be greatly received as at this point im waiting on the E-bay auction for the haynes manul to end.
Thanks,
Derek.

I assume that you have the round heater with the central control
knob? If so then the whole unit is a matrix with the fan in the centre.
Since you have traced warm water then it looks certain that it is in
that area but you should also check for leaks through the bonnet
hinge where it joins the body under the windscreen, and the windscreen
wiper chrome bosses which are mounted on the same panel. These
items should have gaskets on them.

What you really need is the official 'Morris Minor workshop Manual'.
It has a detailed section at the rear on all types of Minor heaters.
Have never had the round type fitted with the cardboard surround
so cannot comment, except to say that it will definitely be a fiddley
job. If your rubber pipes are not perfect then be sure to order new
ones before you start.
