New to the group

Post by billynoneck »

Hi everyone.
I'm a new morrie owner...well sort of, I was looking to repower a project Im doing and decided that a morrie motor was the way to go, tracked down a 950 and picked it up last weekend.
Bunch of late nights researching on the interweb and most of my searches ended up here so I decided to sign up and drive you all nuts with my random and strange questions.

Welcome Billy.
The Morris Minor/BMC "A" Series engine was used in many many applications so you'll be in good company. It is a great little engine, still capable of providing good reliable and economical motoring. Many people are still using them everyday!

I for one would be interested to know more about your car. Do you want to share any more info - or pictures even?

Good luck with your new project.

The car its for is a Vauxhall 12-4, I wanted something that had a 4 speed box, is easy to get parts for and will be easy to make legal here in NZ.

Of course the fact that people have been racing them for 60 plus years and know all the best mods doesnt hurt.

Excellent! I know a few people have fitted the Minor 1000 engine into pre-war Morris 10s with great success, making a much more useable car. Good luck with your project.

Thanks ManyMinors. much more useable is the goal as the 3 speed crash box just isn't nice to drive and i plan to use the car a lot.

What a great looking car - very stylish. A friend had a 14/6 of around the same period.
I expect the climate in NZ is a bit kinder to old cars. They have survived in lower numbers over here due to the dreaded rust :(

Thanks.

A friend's father got himself a 14-6 the same week i got this. rust can be bad here as alot of this stuff was never taken care of, it took me about a year to find this one and I took a risk as i bought it sight unseen but am very happy with the result. Only one small bit of rust in the base of a door. I hope to turn it into a nice cruiser/hot rod.
