Is there any advantage in replacing the 1098 ESM modified flywheel I have on my Marina sourced 1275 (with 266 cam, Stage 3 head, HIF44, maniflow inlet and exhaust, Land N filter) . Mated to MG1275 gearbox.
Would a 1275 midget flywheel offer possibility of better clutch albeit that I know the crankshaft I have is only one dowel and the MG crankshaft I believe is two?

There is absolutely no advantage to be gained by fitting the 1275cc Midget flywheel to your 1275cc Marina based engine.
Not only does the 1275cc Midget flywheel have the two dowels it also has a register that fits over the rear of the crankshaft.

Only if you have the 1275cc Midget crankshaft can any advantage be gained over the ESM modified flywheel. You will then need the 1275cc Midget conrods as the 1275cc Marina big ends are a larger size.

The 1275cc Midget flywheel can be faced off and index drilled to accommodate a heavy duty 7.5" clutch which will transmit more power than the 1275cc Midget clutch assy.

The above photo is of as 1275cc Midget flywheel in alloy. Note the register which fits over the rear of the crankshaft.

That's really clear. Many thanks.
