Brake valve limiter with discs

I am converting my Minor (original 1098) to front discs - Ford calipers, new discs, 10mm wheel spacers etc. Not fitting servo initially. Question is do I need a brake valve limiter. Car has standard 8" drums.

I had a similar conversion professionally fitted by a local Minor specialist to my 1970 Traveller; they fitted a new master cylinder at the same time, but no limiter/balance valve was fitted. The brakes seem well balanced (in fact, with less tendency to lock up than the front drums, as they are more progressive), though it's probably advisable to fit new rear linings to ensure the rears are as good as they can be.

Hi,
I've never fitted nor needed one.
I've also run a car both with and without a servo, the pedal is harder without but other than that I now feel it's a matter of preference.
I don't have any plans to add one to Sally once she's rebuilt, even though I am converting the front brakes to vented discs.
Don't forget to remove the valve cup from the master cylinder though.

You can fit a brake line pressure regulator in the brake line serving the rear brakes but it is not absolutely necessary.

The classic Mini brake line regulating valve is suitable in either non adjustable or adjustable style.

We have the 'adjustable' version of the Mini valve fitted in conjunction with Metro 4-pot front calipers. Without the limiter, the rear brakes will (just) lock under heavy braking, so being able to adjust this out works well for us.

I don't have any data for the Ford based conversions. Does anyone know the caliper piston diameter, and the effective radius that the pads are working at? With that information I can see what the balance looks like, and potentially whether a line pressure restrictor would be desirable.
