I’ve had a search but I can’t find a definitive answer to this.

What clutch assembly is suitable for the 1098 block, 1098 flywheel (albeit a bit lighter) and ribbed gearbox with say 90bhp? All the answers that I’ve found involve 1275 blocks with the associated flywheel, which involves modifying the bell housing, which I’m happy to do if necessary.

I’d obviously like to do it as simply as possible without any changes to the linkage.

With a uprated/stronger clutch you will need to upgrade the rubber bush fitted where the relay cross shaft fits into the chassis. The standard bush is not man enough for use with an uprated clutch.

The bush will be more than suitable for the relay shaft.
When I had the uprated clutch fitted to my Minor and still retaining the Minor linkage I fitted a Minor Mania hard plastic bush which was perfect.

Actually, I wonder if Declan’s linkage would provide an even better solution?

Declan's linkage is good but you still have to consider the relay shaft bush. The standard bush can hardly cope with the original loading and will not cope with a heavy duty clutch.

Just to follow up, Drive Torque and Black Diamond clutches aren’t suitable for more than a 30% increase in power, so they’re not suitable. AP Racing do one but they’re out of stock and their customer service was poor. Helix make a plate and cover which will fit the 1098 flywheel with a bit of machining. So that’s what I’ve gone for, they’ve used it on cars with 200bhp, so it should cope

Do remember a clutch is not a ‘power’ device. It is limited by the torque it can transmit within its speed rating.

I was using ‘power’ as a catch all, as the clutch manufacturers do. The 200bhp car that they’ve used it on was turbo charged so it’s gonna be fine for a naturally aspirated 1215cc A Series
