please could somebody tell me which radiators fit a minor other than minor ones (unless someone has one for sale near Bristol), maybe a marina one, or something like that...just sprung a leak, and need to fix it a bit sharpish without resorting to radweld.. thanks, Ben.

i think you are stuck with the minor rad.
you can fit a marina one but the work involved out weighs getting a new one

It's possible to fit a Metro radiator, too, but again the work required may be prohibitive. Ebay may be an option (though they might be about to spring a leak too...), failing that the parts suppliers have them for around £60-70.

Not cheap, but at least they shouldn't leak...
Is your leak very bad, or could it be jollied along for a while? You're right about radweld, however - it doesn't just go around the radiator, does it?

Could be more trouble than it's worth in the long run, but... :-S

Hi Ben,
There's quite a few of us in the Bristol area and while I don't have one I'm sure someone has...
Failing that there's Millards on Gloucester road. They may have something to help you out of a muddle.
Good Luck!
Nikki
P.S. If you fancy coming along to the Bristol MMOC meet it'd be great to see you!

Most radiator repair places will re-core your radiator 'same day'.

Just out of interest, bmcecosse, have you any idea ROUGHLY how much a re-core on a Minor radiator costs, generally?
I have a new rad to go on 'Gracie', but if they are not too expensive I might have the old one re-cored and keep it as a spare...

thanks for the advice, with regards to the (Austin or rover?) metro rad, has anyone else fitted one? I'm thinking that a metro rad with electric fan (may as well have temp gauge as well) would actually be quite a good idea, and cheaper to sort out when it goes wrong in the future... Is it just a case of making up brakets, im sure it would fit physically and would be about the right size for the engine to run at the right temp as well. It's whether the water ways would fit or not that bothers me slightly. As for the bristol meet, my life is ruled by A-level maths physics and chemistry at the moment! But i'm sure i could make some of them afterwards- whereabouts are they held, and whats involved? Cheers again, Ben.

Seems that Bristol is pretty well catered for in Mog circles......... pity about the Potteries........ is anyone there?? no, I thought not!

Might have to think about running an ad in the local paper..... lots of Minors, no-one in the club!
Think yourself lucky to be in such an active area!

There's lots of other people too - they just don't lurk around this board. At least a couple are real Mog mechanics too (running a garage) so good for advice and Mog aware work.

Last radiator I had re-cored for for my Fiat Uno diesel - very similar size to Minor rad, cost me £40, and was done in 4 hours.
