DVLA Vehicle Enquiry

I have just discovered that the DVLA allow online vehicle enquiries at www.dvla.gov.uk/vehiclelicence

The information supplied includes:
Date of first registration
Date of last V5 Issue (Tax disc?)
Year of manufacture
Cubic capacity
Licence status
Colour

Is this a new facility or am I behind the times?

This is new - well found Vernon! Saves queuing at the Post Office for a SORN declaration. :)

Yeah, that's it, I think.

I'll get one when I'm over. It's not SORNd though, I think. Will this be a problem when getting one? I am also getting it MOTd in the UK, so I can drive my car there in uture, carrying the original registration

Hello Onne,

what are you planning?

If your car has Netherlands plates and is registered there, the UK authorities will not look kindly on your plans. " I am also getting it MOTd in the UK, so I can drive my car there in uture, carrying the original registration"
Unless you are planning to keep the car (re-import) in the UK?

Alec

You're likely to be breaking some rules by having a car registered in 2 countries!
If you do get a UK tax disk in future - you will either have to re-tax it every year or do a SORN declaration every year. Failure to do either will get you a fine - therefore best not to tax it until you are permanently in the UK.

Hi Onne,

You can request that your registration isn't re-issued. I'd contact the DVLA in Cardiff to make sure that they haven't already re-issued it.

I seem to recall that there's a fee every year, but it will mean that you will be able to at least hold ownership of the registration rather than see someone else use it.

By the way Onne, I have that fusebox and regulator for you but unfortunatly I'm in the middle of the move so I'll send it ASAP!

Nikki, will you be attending the National? I will, so that would be an easy peasy option. And no, the reg hasn't been re-issued
