Manifold flanges

If the manifold flange of the inlet manifold is too thick to match the exhaust manifold flange the differences can be overcome by just using the appropriate section out of a spare exhaust manifold gasket under the exhaust manifold flanges to even up the flange heights.
Works for me every time and never had a gasket blow. Lightly grease the gasket before fitting - helps the bedding in and the sealing of the gasket/flanges.

Easier than snipping washers in half and trying to get them all in without one falling out and rolling under the car.

BTDT! :D

Easy enough to make stepped washers that do the job. Only a few minutes job on lathe and mill...

An alternative to losing the bits would be to glue them together? Fresh start each time the manifold was removed, mind.

Fair enough if you have a mill and a lathe but the post was for those faced with different manifold flange thicknesses and need a easy way out.
