I have fitted new drums, shoes and lockheed cylinders to the front of my 1098 and yet the adjusters are about one click away from their maximum limit.
I remember years ago having to file bits off the shoes and having to virtually hammer the drums on because things were so tight.
What has changed since then? I am using the correct 1098 adjusters. Why have I got so little adjustment left with all new components?

Have you bled the system since fitting the new shoes?
It could be the cylinders have not opened fully, I would make sure all the air is bled.
I have never had to resort to hammering my drums back on to any of my cars, some are tight but once on seem to rotate without issue.

This is quite common.
Components are probably copies of copies of copies - - - -
Later adjusters from Bull Motif solved this.
Not cheap mind.

Are the Bull Motif adjusters 'higher' than the originals? I have tried two different sets of original adjusters and they were both at their limits.
I bought new drums thinking that the originals must be worn, but they measured at 8" . I bought the new drums before measuring the old ones, and it was going to cost more to send the new ones back than to keep them.
Is it the thickness of the linings on the shoes that has changed?

Yes, the Bull Motif adjusters are “ higher” than the originals.
It is perhaps significant that these are now the only ones BM sell.
These solved the same problem for me.

One solution I've heard (on this forum maybe?) is to build up the slot in the shoe with a dab of weld and file to shape.
