Emily is slowly getting the sticky clutch pedal that some minor get, never had this on any of my other minor..

What is the best way to lubricate the pedal before it needs replacing..

Take the little Master cylinder cover off and dribble some oil on the shaft where is goes into the brake pedal and move it about by hand as you do so. Also, dribble some oil near the mounting holes (bushes in the chasiss leg) and do the same.

Did you replace the Series 2 type for the later type? I can't remember now......

Same principle applies though.....

Squirt the whole shaft/pedal assembly with WD40 with much pumping up and down at the same time!

When you eventually replace the shaft and bushes, remember the bushes are oilite and need to be dropped in hot oil and left for a day or so before they are pressed in.

The wd40 will work into the bushes - and wash away the gunge that is causing the stickiness. But yes - nothing lasts for ever.

EP90 would be best 'if' it gets along the shaft, so a thinner oil might be better to start with to get the shaft wetted - then try working a thicker oil in there.

The next time I do a pedal shaft I plan to drill ahole and add a grease nipple through the pedal (of course this is only a plan and I will probably never get round to it )

Stand some EP90, in a container of just boiled water for a few minutes - that should thin it considerably.
